Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-XXXVII
Upward: the way to Heaven
Upward: the way to Heaven
and the Most High;
Downward: the way to wrath
and the fire of the judgement.
Forward: the way to the future
and the goal;
Backward: the way to the past
and to nothingness.
To the right: the way to serious choice
to activity;
To the left: the enjoyment of the
peace, repose.
Outward: thou wilt endlessly
dissipate thyself;
Inward: thou wilt take joy
in the One.
Vers le haut : la Voie vers le Ciel
Vers le haut : la Voie vers le Ciel
et vers le Très-Haut ;
Vers le bas : vers la colère,
vers le feu du Jugement.
Vers l’avant : la Voie vers le futur
et vers le but ;
En arrière : vers le passé,
vers le néant.
Vers la droite : la Voie du choix sérieux,
de l’action ;
Vers la gauche : plaisir du bien —
Paix, repos.
Vers l’extérieur : indéfiniment
tu te disperseras ;
Vers l’intérieur tu auras ta joie
dans l’Un.
Hinauf: der Weg zum Himmel
Hinauf: der Weg zum Himmel
und zum Höchsten;
Hinab: zum Zorn,
zum Feuer des Gerichts.
Nach vorn: der Weg zur Zukunft
und zum Ziel;
Nach hinten: zur Vergangenheit,
zum Nichts.
Nach rechts: der Weg zur ernsten Wahl,
zum Tun;
Nach links: Genuss des Guten —
Friede, Ruhn.
Nach außen: du wirst endlos
dich zerstreuen;
Nach innen wirst du dich
des Einen freuen.
