Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-XCVII

The imperfection of things,

The imperfection of things,

Their ephemerality, cannot but sadden our heart.

But their perfume of eternity and infinity

Cannot but give joy to those who love the True.

One goes to sleep with the troubles of the gray day;

Then comes the long night — what will the morrow bring?

Once I heard a voice as I awoke:

Be still — let not thyself be troubled.

L’imperfection des choses, leur

L’imperfection des choses, leur

Ephémérité, doit attrister notre cœur.

Leur parfum d’Eternité, d’Infini,

Doit réjouir ceux qui aiment le Vrai.

S’endormir avec les soucis de la grisaille du jour ;

Einschlafen mit des grauen Tages Sorgen;

Dann kommt die lange Nacht — was bringt der Morgen?

Einst hört ich eine Stimme beim Erwachen:

Sei still — du sollst dir keine Sorgen machen.
