Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-CXI
Man wants life and he flees the naught;
Man wants life and he flees the naught;
He seeks whatever will pass the empty time for him.
Emptiness should not cause him
For nothing is nothing. God is what always remains.
L’homme veut la vie et il fuit le néant ;
L’homme veut la vie et il fuit le néant ;
Il veut ce qui lui fait passer le temps vide.
Le vide ne doit point lui causer de soucis —
Car rien n’est rien. Dieu est ce qui reste toujours.
Der Mensch will Leben, und er flieht das Nichts;
Der Mensch will Leben, und er flieht das Nichts;
Er will, was ihm die leere Zeit vertreibt.
Das Leere soll ihm keinen Kummer machen —
Denn nichts ist nichts. Gott ist, was immer bleibt.
