Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-CXLVI
Devotion — hast thou understood this word aright?
Devotion — hast thou understood this word aright?
Devoted is the lotus on the pond,
And the swan that swims thereon in
Many primordial symbols bear witness to the kingdom of Heaven;
See also the weeping willow, which bends towards
The surface of the water — silent in devotion.
Devotion means: to think upon — but with the inmost self;
For it is with the Heart, which sees the Most High,
That thou shouldst remember Pure Being.
Tant d’images primordiales témoignent du Royaume des Cieux ;
Le recueillement, c’est (en allemand) : penser à — mais avec l’Intérieur ;
So manches Urbild zeugt vom Himmelreich;
So auch die Trauerweide, die sich neigt
Zur Wasserfläche — die in Andacht schweigt.
Andacht ist: denken an — doch mit dem Innern;
