“Great God, we praise Thee” —
What does it mean to praise God?
That everything good that thou knowest
In existence, comes from above.
The Lord, in whose Goodness thou trustest,
Will prepare for thee a bed of grace;
And when thou devoutly lookest toward Him,
Thy faith will save thee.

Que veut dire louer Dieu ?
Tout ce que tu connais de bon
Dans l’existence vient d’En Haut.
Le Seigneur, sur la faveur de qui tu bâtis,
Te couchera dans le lit de Sa grâce ;
Et si fidèlement tu fixes ton regard sur Lui,
Ta foi te sauvera.
“Großer Gott, wir loben Dich” —

Was heißt es, Gott zu loben?
Alles, was du an Gutem kennst
Im Dasein, kommt von Oben.
Der Herr, auf dessen Huld du baust,
Wird dich in Gnade betten;
Und wenn du treulich auf Ihn schaust,
Wird dich dein Glaube retten.
