Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-LXXIV

Priest, warrior, merchant, servant —

Priest, warrior, merchant, servant —

Far below these four comes the one without caste;

Everyone is confined within his station —

Thus does the goddess of destiny cast her lots.

Over them all is the man who is above caste,

Paramahamsa, who is bound by no duty of station —

And who, from his God-willed height,

Proclaims the limitless ray of Truth.

Prêtre et guerrier, marchand, domestique — et puis

Prêtre et guerrier, marchand, domestique — et puis

Loin en dessous d’eux vient le hors-castes ;

Tief unter ihnen kommt der Kastenlose;

Ein jeder eingeschlossen in sein Amt —

So wirft die Schicksalsgöttin ihre Lose.

Und über ihnen ist der Kastenfreie,

Paramahansa, den kein Pflichtwerk bindet —

Und der von seiner gottgewollten Höhe

Der Wahrheit unbegrenzten Strahl verkündet.
