Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-XCIV

Stern man is strength and knowledge;

Stern man is strength and knowledge;

Sweet woman is beauty and love.

The radiance of man is in his intellect;

The primordial image of femininity is a beautiful body —

To which noble sentiment shows the highest respect.

Masculine and feminine: each is One human being.

As friends, they are equals; as sexes, they are

Lord and helper, two modes of duty.

Then again, adoration from pole to pole —

God and goddess; each reigns in his own way.

Force et connaissance est l’homme austère ;

Force et connaissance est l’homme austère ;

Beauté et amour est la douce femme.

Le rayonnement de l’homme est en son esprit ;

Kraft und Erkenntnis ist der herbe Mann;

Kraft und Erkenntnis ist der herbe Mann;

Schönheit und Liebe ist das süße Weib.

Des Mannes Strahlung ist in seinem Geist;

Urbild des Weiblichen ist schöner Leib —

Dem edles Fühlen höchste Ehr erweist.

Männlich und Weiblich: beides ist Ein Mensch.

Als Freunde ebenbürtig; als Geschlechter

Der Herr und die Gehülfin, pflichtenweise.

Anbetung andrerseits, von Pol zu Pol —

Gott, Göttin; jedes herrscht auf seine Weise.
