Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-XXXVIII
On the one hand, the world is transience;
On the one hand, the world is transience;
On the other, it is that which is: content as such.
Earthly experiences must pass
But the God-willed form is beyond all time,
Because it bespeaks the true Substance;
What is Divine in nature cannot disappear.
The Lord is absolute, existence is
A half being. God is
Hence the starry-heaven of
Hence the mystery of differentiation.
Car elle parle de la Substance véritable ;
Und andrerseits, was ist: Inhalt an sich.
Vergehn muss das Erleben — doch die Form,
Von Gott gewollt, ist jenseits aller Zeit,
Weil sie vom eigentlichen Wesen spricht;
Was göttlicher Natur, verschwindet nicht.
Der Herr ist unbedingt: Dasein, bedingt —
Ein halbes Sein. Gott ist Unendlichkeit —
Daher der Sternenhimmel aller Formen —
Daher das Rätsel der Verschiedenheit.
