Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-LXXXIX

Hindus, Christians, Moslems, and Buddhists

Hindus, Christians, Moslems, and Buddhists

All pray with a rosary;

Not just once do they say the sacred Words —

But a hundred, a thousand times — they strive after totality.

The beads or knots are multiplicity;

The thread is unity — the abode of the Most High.

The many is a movement within time —

The One is the song of Eternity.

It is also said that the thread is humility —

If the thread breaks, all man’s worth is lost.

Et Bouddhistes prient avec le rosaire ;

Les perles ou les nœuds du rosaire sont la multiplicité ;

Buddhisten, beten mit dem Rosenkranze;

Nein, hundert-, tausendmal — man geht aufs Ganze.

Die Vielheit sind des Kranzes Perlen, Knoten;
