The Lord has given thee —

Let not thyself be troubled

By the outward or the inward.

Trials indeed must be,

Both in the world and the soul —

Unshakable is God’s ground,

And steadfast His dwelling in the heart.

Ferme est le sol de Dieu,

Lasse dich nicht verwirren,

Weder durch Außen noch Innen.

Prüfungen muss es wohl geben,

Sei’s in der Welt, in der Seele —

Fest ist der Boden Gottes,

Und fest sein Wohnen im Herzen.
