World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes I-III-LXXV
Frithjof sought the hand of the king’s daughter, Ingeborg;
Frithjof sought the hand of the king’s daughter, Ingeborg;
The maiden’s brothers saw in him an enemy and shame.
After many adventures, he finally came home;
He was victorious, and won wife, throne, and country.
It was the same with Joseph in the Bible:

He however became one of the
See how, in the end, he conquered, and forgave.
Frithjof demanda la main d’Ingeborg, fille du roi ;
Frithjof demanda la main d’Ingeborg, fille du roi ;
Les frères de la pucelle virent en lui l’ennemi et la honte.
Après maintes aventures, il revint enfin chez lui
Et vainquit, acquit la femme, le trône et le pays.

Dont ses frères le repoussèrent, haï par envie ;
Mais il devint l’un des grands —
Vois comme finalement il vainquit et pardonna.
Frithjof warb um die Königstochter Ingeborg;
Frithjof warb um die Königstochter Ingeborg;
Der Jungfrau Brüder sahn in ihm den Feind, die Schand.
Nach vielen Abenteuern kehrt er endlich heim
Und siegte, und gewann das Weib, den Thron, das Land.
Und so der Joseph in der Bibel: wie
Die Brüder ihn aus Neid gehasst, verstoßen;
Er aber wurde einer von den Großen —
Sieh, wie er endlich siegte, und verzieh.
