Joy in the beautiful is not worldliness —
Joy in the beautiful is not
In the beautiful one can see God’s intention
If one penetrates to the essence of things.
Happy are those who, ever ready to see things in depth,
In all their thoughts stand before their Creator.
Joie par le beau n’est point mondanité —
Joie par le beau n’est point mondanité —
On verra dans le beau l’intention de Dieu,
Si l’on perce à jour la substance des choses.
Heureux ceux qui, toujours prêts à cette clairvoyance,
En toute méditation se tiennent devant leur Créateur.
Freude am Schönen ist nicht Weltlichkeit —
Freude am Schönen ist nicht Weltlichkeit —
Man wird im Schönen Gottes Absicht sehen,
Wenn man der Dinge Wesenheit durchschaut.
Wohl denen die, zum Tiefblick stets bereit,
In allem Sinnen vor dem Schöpfer stehen.
