Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-LXXXVIII
The hands of man manifest his heart;
The hands of man manifest his heart;
Whence the mudrâ of the priest: a power of blessing
That links the earthly to the heavenly;
Or a ray of wrath, sent by God.
An instrument may prolong the priestly hand:
Such as the dorje and the vajra which, combined with a mudrâ,
Bestow the lama’s blessing on the soul.
And the prayer-wheel that is turned by the
The blessing is blown over the whole world.
Les mains de l’homme manifestent son cœur ;
Les mains de l’homme manifestent son cœur ;
D’où le Mudrâ du prêtre : puissance bénissante
Qui combine le terrestre avec le céleste ;
Ou encore le rayon de colère apporté par Dieu.
Un instrument peut prolonger la main sacerdotale :
Tel le Dorje, le Vajra, qui avec un Mudrâ
Déposent dans l’âme la bénédiction du Lama ;
Et la roue de prières que fait tourner le pieux —
La bénédiction est insufflée dans tout Univers.
Des Menschen Hände geben kund sein Herz;
Des Menschen Hände geben kund sein Herz;
Daher des Priesters Mudrâ: Segensmacht,
Die Irdisches mit Himmlischem verknüpft;
Oder auch Zornes Strahl, von Gott gebracht.
Ein Werkzeug mag die Priesterhand verlängern:
So Dorje, Vajra, die des Lama Segen
Mit einem Mudra in die Seele legen;
Und das Gebetsrad, das der Fromme dreht –
Der Segen wird in alle Welt geweht.
