Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-CXVI

Self-respect is natural in the noble man,

Self-respect is natural in the noble man,

But self-contempt is too, in another sense:

One values for itself whatever comes from the Good;

One does not wish that evil power should triumph.

For thou art nothing before God. But His seal

Is upon thee; thou art the God-consecrated mirror.

On estime en soi ce qui vient du Bien ;

Man achtet an sich, was vom Guten ist;
