Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-CXI
The Christmas tree that stood in the center —
The Christmas tree that stood in the
A childlike foolishness I would like to forget,
If its deep meaning were not so evident.
I dreamt that I was sitting under its shelter,
In its warmth that evoked Heaven —
Protected as in a golden vessel
With a sweet scent. Meanwhile an angel played the violin
Above the silver star on that tree of wonders,
Which gently bowed before God’s nearness.
