Tanzîh, the vision of eternal laws
Apart from the world, beyond the things of the senses;
Tashbîh — in Sufi language — the penetrating vision,
How God’s Rays shine through a beautiful form.
God is in nothing, yet He is in everything
That can bear witness to Him: in noble women,
In noble art and miracles of nature —
Within thy depth both visions become one.

Wie Gottes Strahlen schöne Form durchdringen.
Gott ist in nichts, und doch ist Er in allem
Was von Ihm zeugen kann; in edlen Frauen,
In edler Kunst und Wundern der Natur —
In deiner Tiefe eint sich beides Schauen.
