And when ye pray, use not many words,

Said Jesus, for this the heathens do;
They think that Heaven will listen to them,
If they persevere in their long discourses.
One cannot remember this too much:
If ye have profound faith, it suffices
That ye think inwardly on the Divine Name.
Et quand vous priez, ne multipliez pas les paroles,

A dit Jésus, car c’est ce que font aussi les païens ;
Ils pensent que le Ciel les exaucera,
S’ils souffrent de leur long discours.
Car on ne peut trop rappeler ceci :
Si vous avez la foi profonde, il suffit
Qu’à l’intérieur vous pensiez au Nom de Dieu.
Und wenn ihr betet, macht nicht viele Worte,

Sprach Jesus, denn dies tun ja auch die Heiden;
Sie meinen, daß der Himmel sie erhöre,
Wenn sie an ihren langen Reden leiden.
Denn nicht zuviel kann man an dies erinnern:
Wenn ihr den tiefen Glauben habt, genügt
Dass ihr an Gottes Namen denkt im Innern.
