Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-CXX
We do not criticize the good missionary
We do not criticize the good missionary
Because through his preaching the words of Christ resound;
We criticize him because, at the same stroke,
He brings with him the world of deadly machines,
And diabolical
Not the paradisal fragrance of Eternity.
It is painful to mention earthly
For the longing of our soul breathes something different.
Nous ne blâmons point le brave missionnaire
Nous ne blâmons point le brave missionnaire
Parce que, grâce à sa prédication, la parole du Christ retentit ;
Weil dank der Predigt Christi Wort erklingt;
Denn andres atmet unsrer Seele Sehnen.
