The ascetic seeks not only to obtain salvation —
The ascetic seeks not only to obtain
He also seeks to escape the grief
Caused by earthly attachment,
The grief caused when the Eternal sings within the ephemeral.
Earthly harmony — a path to God —
But it is also not without sorrow.

Das die Verbindung mit der Erde bringt,
Wenn im Vergänglichen das Ewge singt.
Die Erdenharmonie — ein Pfad zu Gott —
Jedoch auch sie erklingt nicht ohne Not.
