Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-LXXXV
The soul of a Sufi came to God;
The soul of a Sufi came to God;
“What bringest thou with thee?” The Most High asked.
The soul replied: “There is but One God —
And this is all I bear with me.”
One God alone — rich is the shahâdah’s meaning.
Abraham’s entire message is contained therein.
L’âme d’un Soufi arriva à Dieu ;
L’âme d’un Soufi arriva à Dieu ;
« Qu’apportes-tu avec toi ? » fut la question du Très-Haut.
L’âme dit : « Il n’y a qu’Un Dieu —
Et c’est tout ce que je porte sur moi. »
Un seul Dieu — riche est le sens de la Shahâdah ;
Tout le message d’Abraham y est compris.
Die Seele eines Sufi kam zu Gott;
Die Seele eines Sufi kam zu Gott;
„Was bringst du mit dir?“ war des Höchsten Frage.
Die Seele sagte: „Es ist nur Ein Gott —
Und dies ist alles, was ich auf mir trage.“
Ein Gott nur — reich ist der Shahādah Sinn;
Abrahams ganze Botschaft liegt darin.
