Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-XL
In the church there is holy water,
In the church there is holy water,
And incense is also used;
See how water can be blessed,
And how fragrance rises to Heaven.
Ganges water purifies
From sin, and so does the water of baptism;
To the Great Spirit rises the smoke
Of the Pipe, and breathes life into the wind.
Water purifies the soul,
Wine transmutes thee into spirit.
Water is for
He who can comprehend it, drinks the Wine.
Il y a l’eau bénite dans l’Eglise
Il y a l’eau bénite dans l’Eglise
Et l’encens aussi est utilisé ;
Vois comme on peut bénir l’eau,
Et comme le parfum fume vers le ciel.
L’eau du Gange aussi te purifie,
Comme celle du baptême, de tout péché ;
Vers le Grand Esprit monte la fumée
Du calumet en animant le vent.
L’eau rend l’âme pure ;
Le vin te transmue en Esprit.
L’eau est pour tout le monde —
Boit le vin celui qui sait le comprendre.
Weihwasser gibt es in der Kirch
Weihwasser gibt es in der Kirch
Und auch der Weihrauch wird gebraucht;
Sieh, wie man Wasser segnen kann,
Und wie der Duft zum Himmel raucht.
Auch Gangeswasser reinigt dich,
Wie das der Taufe, von der Sünd;
Zum Großen Geiste steigt der Rauch
Der Pfeife und beseelt den Wind.
Das Wasser macht die Seele rein;
In Geist verwandelt dich der Wein.
Das Wasser ist für jedermann —
Den Wein trinkt, wer ihn fassen kann.
