Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-XLI

O Nightingale, what sings thy flute,

O Nightingale, what sings thy flute,

On the brink of cool night?

The golden evening light sank down —

The night has brought me peace.

I give thanks unto the Most High —

For He forgets me not.

He, who created day and night,

Is the light of my soul.

Was flötest du, o Nachtigall,

Was flötest du, o Nachtigall,

Am Rand der kühlen Nacht?

Das goldne Abendrot versank —

Sie hat mir Ruh gebracht.

Ich sag dem Allerhöchsten Dank —

Denn Er vergisst mich nicht.

Er, der den Tag, die Nacht erschuf,

Ist meiner Seele Licht.
