Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-XXXII
David, who danced before the Ark of the Covenant,
David, who danced before the Ark of the Covenant,
And played the harp, and sang the psalms;
Krishna, who played his magic flute,
And, as a god, embraced the gopis;
Shankarâcharya, who taught Vedanta,
And whose teaching deeply penetrated India’s soul;
Three names that mean infinitely
That spread light and warmth into the world.
David, qui dansa devant l’Arche d’Alliance,
David, qui dansa devant l’Arche d’Alliance,
Qui joua de la harpe et chanta les Psaumes ;
Krishna, qui joua de sa flûte enchantée,
Et comme un dieu enlaça le corps des gopis ;
Shankarâchârya, qui enseigna le Védanta,
Et dont la parole pénétra l’âme même de l’Inde ;
Trois noms qui signifient infiniment de choses —
Qui répandent Lumière et Chaleur dans le monde.
David, der vor der Bundeslade tanzte,
David, der vor der Bundeslade tanzte,
Die Harfe spielte und die Psalmen sang;
Krishna, der seine Zauberflöte spielte
Und als ein Gott der Gopi Leib umschlang;
Shankarāchārya, der Vedānta lehrte,
Des Rede tief in Indiens Seele drang;
Drei Namen, die unendlich viel bedeuten —
Die Licht und Wärme in der Welt verbreiten.
