Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-XXXV

The chain shows us how the forms of existence

The chain shows us how the forms of existence

Forever interlock, link by link;

Nothing on earth stands alone by itself;

He is wise who sees the wholeness of things.

The world and time — a never-ending meander,

Alternately uniting and separating;

The world should appear to thee as One in all —

And, conversely, all in One.

Sans cesse s’entre-saisissent, d’un maillon à l’autre ;

Nulle chose terrestre n’est toute seule pour elle-même ;

Alternativement l’un dans l’autre et séparés ;

Stets ineinandergreifen, Glied an Glied;

Kein Erdending ist ganz allein für sich;

Weise ist, wer der Dinge Ganzheit sieht.

Die Welt, die Zeit -nie endendes Mäander,

Abwechselnd Ineinander, Auseinander;
