Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-XXXVI

“Light comes from the East” — this is true,

“Light comes from the East” — this is true,

If one is thinking of India; but do not forget

Pythagoras, Plato, Plotinus: for many —

Both Christians and Semites — they were a light.

And even the modern West is not made

Only of darkness; one can find traits

In Western man that should be respected;

We do not criticize human values.

Des traits que tu dois respecter ;

Beim Abendländer, die du achten musst;

Menschliche Werte trifft nicht unsre Rüge.
