Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-CXXI
The angel called her “full of grace”;
The angel called her “full of grace”;
“What manner of greeting” — asked Mary — “is this?”
Then she felt: “Be it done unto me according to thy word” —
And was filled with the Spirit, with the Kingdom of Heaven.
Humble she was, and did not believe
And she was chosen before the Face of God.
L’Ange l’appela pleine de grâce ;
L’Ange l’appela pleine de grâce ;
« Quelle salutation — dit Marie — est celle-là ?
Puis elle pressentit : « Qu’arrive ce qui doit arriver » —
Et elle fut remplie de l’Esprit — du Royaume céleste.
Elle était humble, mais non crédule —
Et fut élue devant la Face de Dieu.
Der Engel nannte sie die Gnadenreiche;
Der Engel nannte sie die Gnadenreiche;
„Was ist dies — sprach Maria — für ein Gruß?“
Und fühlte dann: „Geschehe, was da muss“ —
Und ward erfüllt vom Geist — vom Himmelreiche.
Demütig war sie, doch leichtgläubig nicht —
Und ward erwählt vor Gottes Angesicht.
