Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-LXXXVIII

Many people like ostentation — in the kingdom of Heaven,

Many people like ostentation — in the kingdom of Heaven,

They want to have castles brimming

With golden ornaments and diamonds; it seems to me

That beatitude takes no pleasure in vanity —

It has nothing to do with gold and precious stones.

There would be nothing more beautiful than Paradise,

Even if it had nothing else to offer

But the splendor of flowers on an earthly meadow.
