Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-XV
Point, straight line, curved line, circle, spiral —
Point, straight line, curved line, circle,
These are symbols of our world
And its becoming; then of the whole work,
Which contains the possibility of all existing things.
The circle: its whole image, the world in itself;
Then the spiral: the world proceeding
Its movement towards its principle within time,
Or else: the world that flees from its own illusion
In its dream of infinity.
Point, ligne droite, ligne courbe, cercle,
Point, ligne droite, ligne courbe, cercle,
Le cercle : son image totale, le monde en soi ;
Punkt, Grade Linie, Bogenlinie, Kreis,
Punkt, Grade Linie, Bogenlinie, Kreis,
Spirale auch — Sinnbilder unsrer Welt
Und ihres Werdens; dann des ganzen Werks,
Das aller Dinge Möglichkeit enthält.
Der Kreis : ihr ganzes Bild, die Welt an sich;
