Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-XXXIV
Attachment to people and things,
Attachment to people and things,
Given by our surroundings, is the aura,
Indeed the substance, of our soul;
It constitutes our ego, and one’s whole life.
Yet it is little, yea, a nothingness, before God.
He gave us the right to be ourselves;
But, on the other hand, we are his
For in prayer, I am alone with God.
In Heaven too, we shall have neighbors;
And what we love, we have in the Most High.
In Heaven there are no
Yet something of the earth remains in us.
Even the greatest friend of God possesses an
In our deepest self, we are united with God.
Elle est l’aura, et même la substance de l’âme ;
Il nous a donné le droit d’être un ego ;
Dans le Royaume des Cieux aussi il y a le prochain ;
Sie ist die Aura, ja der Stoff der Seele;
Er schenkte uns das Recht, ein Ich zu sein;
Auch in des Himmels Reich gibt es den Nächsten;
Dennoch bleibt etwas Erde an uns haften.
