World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes I-III-CXLVIII

Firstly, discernment between Âtmâ and Mâyâ;

Firstly, discernment between Âtmâ and Mâyâ;

Then concentration on Âtmâ — often, indeed without ceasing.

These are the two poles of Vedânta;

They keep alive thy thinking and thy being.

Each one is the quintessence of the Love of God;

The religious denomination may be what it will —

As long as this double principle remain.

D’abord discernement entre Âtmâ et Mâyâ ;

D’abord discernement entre Âtmâ et Mâyâ ;

Puis concentration sur Âtmâ, souvent, sinon toujours —

Ce sont là les deux pôles du Védanta ;

Ils maintiennent en vie ta pensée et ton être.

Les deux sont quintessence de l’amour de Dieu ;

Et que la forme de foi soit ce qu’elle veut —

Pourvu que ce double principe reste maintenu.

Erst Unterscheidung zwischen Ātmā, Māyā;

Erst Unterscheidung zwischen Ātmā, Māyā;

Dann Ansammlung auf Ātmā, oft, ja ständig —

Dies sind die beiden Pole des Vedānta;

Dies hält dein Denken und dein Sein lebendig.

Beides ist Urgehalt der Gottesliebe;

Und sei die Glaubensform, was sie auch wolle —

Wenn nur dies Zwiegespann erhalten bliebe.
