World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes I-III-LI
The great peace of the soul is not thinking;
The great peace of the soul is not thinking;
It comes from Being, and like it, is absolute;
Ask not how or why — for God is God;
May He give the soul the grace of Peace,
If it opens itself. — Filled with certitude
And without concern, may it rejoice
Within its deepest core in Pure Being.
La grande Paix de l’âme n’est point la pensée ;
La grande Paix de l’âme n’est point la pensée ;
Elle vient de l’Être, est absolue comme celui-ci ;
Ne demande ni comment ni pourquoi — car Dieu est Dieu ;
Puisse-t-Il donner à l’âme la grâce de la Paix
Si elle s’y ouvre — En son for intérieur,
Comblée de certitude et sans réserve,
Puisse-t-elle prendre sa joie au Pur Être.
Der Seele großer Friede ist nicht Denken;
Der Seele großer Friede ist nicht Denken;
Er kommt vom Sein, ist unbedingt wie dieses;
Frag nicht nach wie, warum — denn Gott ist Gott;
Mög Er der Seel des Friedens Gnade schenken
So sie sich öffnet. — Mög sie sich erfreun,
Erfüllet von Gewissheit, ohn Bedenken,
In ihrem tiefen Grund am Reinen Sein.
