World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes I-III-XCI
Plato’s thinking tended Upwards,
Plato’s thinking tended Upwards,
Aristotle’s thinking tended towards the earth;
Similar is the relationship
that we find between Shankara
And Ramanuja in India;
both spiritual edifices
Had to be built,
each one to shape a specific world.
Greece and India
are not on the same level;
Hellas cannot be
the Sanâtana Dharma.
La pensée de Platon tendait vers le Haut,
La pensée de Platon tendait vers le Haut,
celle d’Aristote tendait vers le monde ;
Semblable est le rapport
que l’on trouve chez Shankara
Et Râmânuja en Inde ;
les deux édifices de l’Esprit
Doivent être construits
pour pouvoir constituer un monde.
Les Grecs et les Hindous ne se situent
pas sur le même plan ;
L’Hellade ne peut pas
être le Sanâtana Dharma.
Plato dachte nach Oben,
Plato dachte nach Oben,
Aristoteles dachte der Welt zu;
Ähnlich ist das Verhältnis,
das wir bei Shánkara finden
Und Rāmānuja in Indien;
beide Gebäude des Geistes
Müssen gebaut sein,
um je eine Welt auszumachen.
Nicht auf der gleichen Ebene
stehen die Griechen, die Inder;
Hellas kann nicht
das Sanātana Dharma sein.
