World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes IV-VII-CI

I have known women whose beauty in old age

I have known women whose beauty in old age

Moved me deeply; they were untouched

By any trace of everyday grayness; only noble thinking

And noble sentiment shaped their features.

Happy the one who is not lax;

Hold faithfully to wise self-discipline.

Heureux qui ne se laisse pas aller à l’indolence ;

Wohl dem, der sich nicht träge gehen lässt;

An weiser Selbstzucht halte treulich fest.
