Transcience — it may well be a cheerless word,

For in fact, time takes everything away.
Yet not so cheerless, because the stream of time
Can do nothing against the kernel of eternity.

Mais point si désolant, car le fleuve du temps

Denn in der Tat, die Zeit trägt alles fort.
Doch nicht so trostlos, denn der Strom der Zeit
Kann nichts gegen den Kern der Ewigkeit.
