World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes IV-VII-CXXIV
A writer must not only see his intention,
A writer must not only see his intention,
And thereby conclude that everything is in order;
If the form, the coherence, is not good,
See how the intention fails and the meaning is lost.
True speech must not be excessive;
Be exact in things both big and small.
These rules are disregarded in the East,
Because one has in mind only the depth of the speech.
Did not Plato say that truth
Is proved by beauty — now and eternally.
Le vrai discours ne peut paraître sans mesure ;
Nicht maßlos darf die wahre Rede scheinen;
