World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes IV-VII-LXIV
God often gives us in our earthly life
God often gives us in our earthly life
A brother-soul, who embellishes the Path,
And who, in this or that respect,
Reconciles us with the ups and downs of life.
The wise Titus Burckhardt was a friend
As there can be no better in life;
A brother, given me in far off days,
From earliest youth until the grave.
Erik von Meyenburg was a companion
Of a quite noble kind, ready for every service;
What made the nobility of his faithful soul
Even deeper, was a ray of sanctity.
D’un genre tout à fait noble, prêt à tous les services ;
Gott schenkt uns oft in unserm Erdenleben
Gott schenkt uns oft in unserm Erdenleben
Die Bruderseele, die den Weg verschönt
Und uns in dieser oder jener Hinsicht
Mit unsres Lebens Auf und Ab versöhnt.
Der weise Titus Burckhardt war ein Freund
Wie es im Leben keinen bessern gab:
Ein Bruder, mir geschenkt in fernen Tagen —
Von früher Jugend bis zum späten Grab.
Erik von Meyenburg war ein Gefährte
Ganz edler Art, zu jedem Dienst bereit;
Was noch den Adel seiner treuen Seele
Vertiefte, war ein Strahl von Heiligkeit.
