God knows how and why the world goes round,
God knows how and why the world goes round,
And also how it is with my
How many things befell me in life;
He knows my heart. Thus I can sleep in peace.
Essential is that I remember the Lord —
That I give Him all my heart and my life.
Dieu sait comment et pourquoi le monde tourne,
Dieu sait comment et pourquoi le monde tourne,
Et aussi ce qu’il en est de mon âme —
Comme maintes choses dans la vie m’ont atteint ;
Il connaît mon cœur. Aussi je puis dormir tranquille.
L’essentiel est que je me souvienne du Seigneur —
Que je Lui donne la totalité de mon cœur et de ma vie.

Er kennt mein Herz. So kann ich ruhig schlafen.
