World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes IV-VII-XLIX
Patience brings the soul much profit —
Patience brings the soul much
Yet impatience also has a meaning.
It is true that one kind of impatience is foolish,
When the soul cannot dominate itself;
But the other kind is logic:
It wills that everything follow a wise plan.
Thus things also happen with God
At the time that He conceives their being.
La patience — elle apporte maint profit à l’âme —
La patience — elle apporte maint profit à l’âme —
Pourtant l’impatience aussi a un sens.
Il est vrai qu’il est une impatience qui est sottise,
Parce que l’âme ne peut se dominer ;
Une autre impatience est toutefois logique :
Elle veut que tout aille selon un sage plan ;
Chez Dieu aussi les choses ont lieu
Au temps où Il a leur être à l’esprit.
Geduld — sie bringt der Seele viel Gewinn —
Geduld — sie bringt der Seele viel Gewinn —
Jedoch auch Ungeduld hat einen Sinn.
Wahr ist, die eine Ungeduld ist Torheit,
Weil sich die Seele nicht beherrschen kann;
Die andre Ungeduld jedoch ist Logik:
Sie will, dass alles geh nach weisem Plan;
So finden auch bei Gott die Dinge statt
Zur Zeit, da Er ihr Sein im Sinne hat.
