World Wheel: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Volumes IV-VII-XXIX
I call horizontal that which is merely of this world,
I call horizontal that which is merely of this world,
And vertical that which gazes into the heights of the Spirit.
Greatness is to be found in both
But only the second is Heaven’s bride.
Be not seduced by human
Not every genius stands before God’s door.
J’appelle horizontal ce qui n’est que mondain ;
J’appelle horizontal ce qui n’est que mondain ;
Waagerecht nenn ich, was nur weltlich ist;
Waagerecht nenn ich, was nur weltlich ist;
Senkrecht, was in des Geistes Höhe schaut.
