Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-LXIX

The world of images, which disappears

The world of images, which disappears

With the flow of time, wants to live on in our souls,

And continue to dream; it wants, with our substance,

To be born anew, and weave new veils.

Do not give in to this — not too much;

“Rest in peace” — throw illusion into the sea

Of possibility. The Spirit should strive upwards.

Ne t’y prête point — pas trop ;

Verweht — sie will in unsern Seelen leben

Und weiter träumen, will mit unserm Stoff

Neu auferstehn und neue Schleier weben.

Gib dich nicht her dazu — nicht allzusehr;

„Ruhet in Frieden“ — wirf den Trug ins Meer

Der Möglichkeit. Der Geist soll aufwärts streben.
