Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-LXXXIX

When man turns to God, the evil enemy

When man turns to God, the evil enemy

Turns to man — he lies in wait

To cause disquiet. Wisdom and prayer

Are a wall of light and love surrounding

Peace of soul. Trials must be;

God will not abandon him who trusts.

In vain does the wicked one seek deceit and war;

The evil one’s cunning becomes the victory of the Good.

Entourant la paix de l’âme. L’épreuve — elle doit être ;

En vain l’Infâme veut-il tromperie et guerre ;

Aus Licht und Liebe. Prüfung — sie muss sein;

Umsonst will der Verruchte Trug und Krieg;

Des Bösen Arglist wird des Guten Sieg.
