Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. I-VI-CLVI
A good man did something clumsy —
A good man did something
Some said that his intention was wicked.
And this opinion, which chooses the bad,
Is a thousand times worse than the deed
That one slanderously calls in question.
Un homme bon commit un acte maladroit —
Un homme bon commit un acte maladroit —
On dit que son intention était vicieuse.
Et cette opinion qui choisissait le mal
Etait mille fois pire que l’acte
Que l’on mettait calomnieusement en question.
Ein guter Mensch tat etwas Ungeschicktes —
Ein guter Mensch tat etwas Ungeschicktes —
Man sagte, dass die Absicht ruchlos sei.
Und diese Meinung, die das Schlechte wählte,
War tausend Male schlechter als die Tat
Die man verleumderisch in Frage stellte.
