Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-LXXXIX
The pilgrim journeys faithfully towards his goal —
The pilgrim journeys faithfully towards his
He takes joy already in the distant sanctuary.
He is not daunted by the hardships of the way —
He travels on and he does not look back;
He climbs patiently over many
His joy in the sacred lends him wings.
Be thou the pilgrim, who makes his way through life
And yet stands motionless before the Highest.
Movement is the way of earthly life;
But God with His Grace is immutable.
Le pèlerin chemine fidèlement vers son but —
Le pèlerin chemine fidèlement vers son but —
Il se réjouit déjà du lointain sanctuaire.
Des peines de la route il ne se soucie guère —
Il chemine de l’avant sans tourner la tête ;
Il grimpe patiemment sur mainte colline —
La joie du Sacré lui donne des ailes.
Toi, sois ce pèlerin qui parcourt la vie
Tout en se tenant immobile devant le Très-Haut.
Mouvement est la voie de la vie terrestre ;
Mais Dieu est immuable avec Sa grâce.
Der Pilger wandert treu nach seinem Ziel —
Der Pilger wandert treu nach seinem Ziel —
Er freut sich schon am fernen Heiligtum.
Des Weges Mühen kümmern ihn nicht viel —
Er wandert weiter, schauet sich nicht um;
Er steigt geduldig über manchen Hügel —
Die Freud am Heiligen verleiht ihm Flügel.
Sei du der Pilger, der durchs Leben geht
Und dennoch reglos vor dem Höchsten steht.
Bewegung ist des Erdenlebens Pfad;
Doch unbewegt ist Gott mit seiner Gnad.
