Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-CIV

A man loves this, but should love that;

A man loves this, but should love that;

He looks longingly on values that are doubtful.

He should, before God, banish his dreaming ego;

God knows what everyone, who knows himself, should love.

Un homme aime telle chose, devant plutôt aimer telle autre ;

Un homme aime telle chose, devant plutôt aimer telle autre ;

Il pose un regard nostalgique sur des valeurs douteuses.

Devant Dieu il lui faut écarter son moi rêveur ;

Dieu sait ce que doit aimer quiconque se connaît lui-même.

Ein Mensch liebt dieses, sollte eher jenes lieben;

Ein Mensch liebt dieses, sollte eher jenes lieben;

Nach zweifelhaften Werten schaut er sehnsuchtsvoll.

Er soll vor Gott sein träumend Ich beiseiteschieben;

Gott weiß, was jeder selbsterkennend lieben soll.
