Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-CXVI
With each of the poems, I think:
With each of the poems, I think:
This one may be the last. Not because I will it,
But because God could will it. Mine is what comes to me;
And one day, my pen will be still.
It is strange that I should think of saying this;
On the one hand, it is evident;
On the other hand, destiny brews what it
What my wishes are, you should not ask.
Pour chacune des poésies, je pense
Pour chacune des poésies, je pense
Qu’elle pourrait être la dernière. Non que je le veuille ;
Dieu pourrait le vouloir. Est mien ce qui m’arrive ;
Et un jour la plume s’arrêtera.
Il est étrange que j’aie pensé à le dire ;
D’une part, c’est chose évidente ;
D’autre part, le destin brasse ce qu’il peut —
Ne demandez pas quel est mon souhait.
Bei jedem der Gedichte denke ich,
Bei jedem der Gedichte denke ich,
Es könnt das Letzte sein. Nicht weil ich will;
Gott könnt es wollen. Mein ist, was da kommt;
Und eines Tages steht die Feder still.
Seltsam, dass ich dran dachte, es zu sagen;
Einerseits liegt die Sache auf der Hand;
Andrerseits braut das Schicksal, was es kann —
Nach meinem Wunsch sollt ihr mich nicht befragen.
