Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-LXXXIV
Learned philosophers have disputed much
Learned philosophers have disputed much
About questions of space and time;
It is strange that one has endured so much hair-splitting
About something that everyone can see for himself.
Space is nothing other than expansion;
And, if nothing fills it, it is the emptiness of ether.
It is senseless that the flow of
Which can not exist when nothing
Should trouble the head of him who seeks the In-Itself.
De savants philosophes se sont beaucoup disputés
De savants philosophes se sont beaucoup disputés
Sur la question de l’espace et du temps ;
En outre — si rien ne le remplit — que le vide de l’Ether ;
Viel ob der Frag von Raum und Zeit gestritten;
Seltsam, dass man in dem, was jeder sieht,
Hat an so viel Haarspalterei gelitten.
Nichts andres ist der Raum als Ausdehnung,
Dabei — wenn nichts ihn füllt — als Ätherleere;
