Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-XXXVIII

Corpus, anima, spiritus:

Corpus, anima, spiritus:

We are corpus, as stones are;

We are anima, as animals can be;

We are spiritus through the wind of the Holy Ghost.

So let us do what the Spirit requires:

Where there is power, there are also duties.

The child of man belongs to the Sovereign Good.

Corpus, puis anima, ensuite spiritus :

Corpus, puis anima, ensuite spiritus :

Nous sommes corpus comme le sont les pierres ;

Anima comme peuvent l’être les animaux ;

Spiritus par le vent du Saint-Esprit.

Accomplissons donc ce que l’esprit requiert ;

Là où est la puissance, là sont les devoirs aussi ;

L’être humain appartient au Souverain Bien.

Corpus, dann Anima, dann Spiritus:

Corpus, dann Anima, dann Spiritus:

Corpus sind wir, wie es die Steine sind;

Anima, wie’s die Tiere können sein;

Spiritus durch des Heilgen Geistes Wind.

So lasst uns, was der Geist verlangt, verrichten;

Da wo die Macht ist, da sind auch die Pflichten;

Dem Höchsten Gut gehört das Menschkind.
