Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-CXXI
Pythagoras and Abraham: primordial Fathers —
Pythagoras and Abraham: primordial Fathers —
One kindled the light of wisdom;
The other taught the law and prayer,
And brought faith to the human heart.
If you look in the mirror of history
You see Greeks here, and Semites
Each brought their own form of the Spirit;
Both of them built our world.
Pythagore et Abraham : pères primordiaux —
Pythagore et Abraham : pères primordiaux —
L’un qui alluma la Lumière de la Sagesse ;
L’autre qui enseigna la Loi et la prière —
Apporta sa foi au cœur de l’homme.
Si vous regardez dans le miroir de l’Histoire :
Les Grecs par-ci et les Sémites par-là —
Chacun apporta la parole de son esprit ;
Tous deux ont bâti notre monde.
Pythagoras und Abraham: Urväter —
Pythagoras und Abraham: Urväter —
Der Eine, der der Weisheit Licht entfachte;
Der Andre, der Gesetz und Beten lehrte —
Dem Menschenherzen seinen Glauben brachte.
Wenn ihr in der Geschichte Spiegel schaut:
Die Griechen, die Semiten, hier und dort —
Ein jeder brachte seines Geistes Wort;
Sie beide haben unsre Welt gebaut.
