Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-V
Morning shivers over the cypresses —
Morning shivers over the
Night, with its dreams, is gone.
I did not forget God in my
I forgot only who I am.
It can happen thus many a night:
Thou hast dreamt of wisdom and
And God must have heard. All else
Has been swept away by the morning wind.
Real is not what thy soul
Real is what unites thee with God.
So mag es dir in mancher Nacht geschehen:
Du träumtest von der Weisheit, vom Gebet —
So musste Gott es hören. Alles andre
War von des Morgens Brise weggeweht.
Wirklich ist nicht, was deine Seel erfindet —
Wirklichkeit ist, was dich mit Gott verbindet.
