Songs without Names: Poems by Frithjof Schuon Vol. VII-XII-LXXVII
In society, whether he wishes to or not,
In society, whether he wishes to or not,
Man must have the courage sometimes to say
Without fearing what others think;
One cannot always please others.
Among people, one must stand
Many an annoyance will be swept away by the wind.
Dans la société l’homme doit oser,
Dans la société l’homme doit oser,
Bon gré mal gré, dire parfois non —
Sans craindre ce que les autres pensent ;
On ne peut toujours donner vaine joie.
Parmi les hommes, il faut se tenir droit —
Maints dépits seront balayés par le vent.
In der Gesellschaft muss der Mensch es wagen
In der Gesellschaft muss der Mensch es wagen
Wohl oder übel manchmal nein zu sagen —
Ohne zu fürchten, was die Andern denken;
Man kann nicht immer eitel Freude schenken.
Unter den Menschen muss man grade stehen —
Gar mancher Ärger wird im Wind verwehen.
